Operations & Maintenance provides ongoing maintenance and safety for all Educational and General Use facilities, and campus grounds.

MAINTENANCE OF BUILDINGS

MAINTENANCE OF BUILDINGS - provides basic maintenance and routine operational services for campus Educational and General Purpose (E&G) facilities.

The campus is divided into five maintenance zones - A, B, D, E, F - for delivery of building maintenance services. From time to time, Building Operations & Maintenance receives special funds from campus administration, grant moneys, or deferred maintenance funds from the state for specific capital improvements, renovations, upgrades, refurbishing, or major facility maintenance projects.

DAY SHIFT

This shift provides on a twice daily basis:
O maintenance of restrooms, including spot cleaning and replenishment of supplies
O cleans certain high security areas that are not manned during night time hours

PEST CONTROL SERVICES
Pest Control services are provided by licensed pest control technicians who can address pest problems inside and outside of campus buildings. Auxiliaries and recognized university organizations may request to hire pest control technicians to address a specific problem or provide year around services.

Grounds Maintenance is responsible for basic maintenance and routine operational grounds care and landscaping services for the landscape surrounding Educational and General Purpose buildings. The Grounds Shop, located at 726 West Maple Street, is staffed year around with full time maintenance workers and heavy equipment operators and supplemented with additional temporary help during the growing seasons.

SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT & RECYCLING

Waste Management - The department manages the operations of campus solid waste management in providing s scheduled solid waste collection and disposal services for Educational and General purpose facilities including "for-hire" services to campus auxiliaries and living groups.

Recycling
- Responsible for the collection and disposal of all recyclable materials in Educational and General purpose facilities. Recycling services may be purchased by campus auxiliaries, student living groups, and recognized university organizations. The material recovery facility includes a loading dock, horizontal bailer, conveyor and box tipper, fork lift, scales, enclosed storage area and a chain-linked surplus salvage yard.

Razorback Recycling is located in just north of Printing Services on Mitchell Street and operates a large box truck and a off-road campus vehicle to provide recycling services for Educational and General purpose facilities, including "for-hire" recycling services to campus auxiliaries and living groups. Recyclable products include newspaper, white paper, mixed paper, corrugated cardboard and aluminum cans.
