Facilities Management

Recycling Operations

Education and General Purpose (E&G) Buildings are visited at least once a week by paper, cardboard, and can/bottle collection crews. Some buildings are serviced daily. An attempt has been made to maximum customer service by providing prompt and efficient collection services. Toward this end a schedule has been drafted to facilitate pick up.

Facilities Management Custodial Services is a great partner in the recycling effort in E&G spaces. With multiple recycling bins per building, their diligence is required to monitor the bins and deliver them to their designated collection area on the correct day. After recycling crews have emptied the bins, custodial staff return them to their proper places in the building. Custodians also clean the bins and Housekeeping Coordinators may request additional bins as needed.

Without the assistance of Custodial Services, additional Recycling workers would be required to go on every floor of every building and take care of the multitude of recycling bins. However, since custodians already take care of the trash in these buildings and are familiar with building occupants generation patterns, they make perfect allies for the recycling
program.

For help recycling cardboard boxes or any large or unusual item, your custodian is the best person to ask first. They will be able to help you or to direct you to the right Facilities Management shop for assistance. Feel free to contact Razorback Recycling for help any time at 575-3028 or e-mail genzor@uafphpl.uark.edu.
